ROAD TO NOWHERE Kenneth Gorch, the discharged U.S. marshall, tells me that Charleston Boulevard doesn’t end, that it’s all developed, one subdivision unfurling after the other, and that then you hit Nellis Air Force Base. Kenneth is also on foot, and he is long gone. We part ways at Eastern and Charleston. I don’t have a map with me. Charleston unwinds ahead: foreshortened developments, people streaming into church services, traffic, birdsong. I’ve been on this stretch for what feels like hours. I check my watch. HUMBLE PIE Hard Rock hotel recently launched an in-room delivery pizza place called Slice of Paradise. The pie shop is actually room service, but is, for reasons unknown, presenting itself as an independent pizza joint. Strangest of all, the “delivery guys” are room-service employees who, under their usual blue button-ups, now wear red Slice of Paradise T-shirts, which they don for deliveries. CityLife called to investigate.
